Lakeside Jetty & Decking
A timber jetty cantilevered over a freshly-dug pond, with a hand-forged firepit and reclaimed steamer chairs. Designed as a quiet vantage point looking back across the water to the woodland beyond.
Tucked into a wooded corner of a private Suffolk garden, this lakeside jetty was designed as a quiet vantage point — a place to sit by the firepit, watch the light fall through the trees, and forget about the day for a while.
The brief was simple, the execution less so. We carried out the groundworks to extend the bank, formed the cantilevered timber deck, and finished the structure with a hand-forged steel firepit bowl that is quietly developing its own patina. A pair of weathered teak steamer chairs already on the property were gently restored and given a new home.
Choosing the right timber mattered. We specified a hardwood deck that will weather to a silvery grey over its lifetime, joined with concealed fixings so nothing distracts from the line of the jetty across the water.
Around the pond we re-profiled the banks and reseeded so the new structure feels rooted in its setting rather than added to it — exactly the result the client was after.
